Professional bio
Wim obtained a PhD in Experimental Psychology at KULeuven (1997) and moved to Ghent University to start an academic career in cognitive neuroscience in 1999. He has used a variety neuroscientific techniques (with an emphasis on fMRI) to study the neural basis of diverse cognitive functions, with a focus on mathematical cognition, attention and memory.
Wim was a founding member of GIFMI and was elected as scientific director in 2023. In 2009 he initiated the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience. He is currently head of the department of Experimental Psychology.
