CORE GIfMI Seed Funding Program
This program aims to promote the use of the CORE GIfMI Facility and stimulate new MRI research. It provides support to investigators for acquiring feasibility and preliminary MR data. This data will support the submission of external grant applications.
Program Objectives:
- Coverage of scanning costs for new research projects initiated by early-career and junior investigators.
- Acquire new imaging data to demonstrate feasibility and provide preliminary evidence to support proposed hypotheses in grant applications.
- The focus is exclusively to acquire pilot data for external grant applications and not for extending data collection for existing research studies or publishing research results.
Program Details:
- Five scanning hours can be obtained and have to be spend over a 12-month period. In case more scanning hours are needed, a detailed motivation must be provided.
- Proposals must be submitted as a single PDF file to the GIFMI Core manager, Prof. Dr. Pim Pullens (pim.pullens@ugent.be).
- Your proposal must include the following:
- Applicants
- Faculty name, department/unit
- Project title
- Abstract in lay language
- A paragraph on the significance and impact of the research
- Specific aims and hypotheses (including methods)
- Applications will be evaluated by the GIFMI board.
- There is a running deadline.
- No later than three months after submission, the applicants are informed about the decision of the GIFMI board.
Final Report Requirement:
Awardees must submit a report to the GIFMI board within twelve months after the seed funding was granted. The report should include a summary of data collected, its relevance to the grant application such as grant mechanism and the targeted submission date, and an accomplishment report on the goals and aims.
